What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is a treatment based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years and is one of India’s traditional systems of medicine. This therapy involves work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. A variety of massage movements are used to relieve accumulated tension in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders, stimulate circulation. Indian Head Massage is also used to aid the condition and health of the hair, particularly when combined with the use of natural organic oils.
Indian Head Massage is used by practitioners to help reduce stress and fatigue, increase mental clarity, and relax and rejuvenate the client.
What happens when I go for a treatment?
The client is fully clothed and sits on a massage chair for the treatment. A range of different movements are used, including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulders and scalp areas. In addition, the pressure points on the face are gently stimulated to release accumulated tension. The last part of the treatment involves energy work on the three top Chakras (energy centres) of the body to restore and re-balance stagnant energy within the body.
A full treatment lasts 45-50 minutes.
