What is Chirokenetic Therapy (CKT)?

The human body is specifically designed and possesses an indomitable will to remain healthy. No matter how badly you treat your body, it will always try to repair, to regenerate, defend against infection and maintain the correct balance. This being the case why are so many people increasingly experiencing the symptoms of chronic disease?

Chirokinetic Therapy (CKT) is a totally natural, non-invasive treatment, which aims to rebalance the body and provide relief and freedom from symptoms and disease. It is a fusion of techniques taken from chiropractic, kinesiology and naturopathy, devised by David Stevens. It aims to tap into the nervous system and rebalance it so that energy blocks clear and the body can heal.

The presenting symptoms can be many and various, including allergies and intolerances, all due to one ‘prime cause’. At first, it may be difficult to understand the concept that several symptoms, eg irritable bowel syndrome, sinusitis, hayfever and headaches, can all be attributed to the same cause. The orthodox approach might be to prescribe painkillers for the migraine, medication for the IBS and anti-histamines or steroids for the hayfever. Although these are useful agents to control symptoms and make life more bearable, dependence on them becomes ‘symptom management’ – as opposed to the objective of CKT which is to target the cause.

What happens when I go for treatment?

At a typical session, you lie on a couch, fully clothed and the practitioner tests the muscles for allergies by asking you to hold the right arm into the body, while holding a phial containing an allergen with the other hand. Whether or not you can match the practitioner’s pressure on the arm shows if there is an allergy to that substance. Not only is the practitioner looking for allergies but they are also discovering where energy blocks occur. Having been through the whole range of possible allergens, a chiropractic manipulation – which feels like a flicking motion – is performed either on the head of on the part of the spine to access the nervous system. This rebalances the nervous system, which is responsible for the health of the immune system. Once the immune system is restored to optimum health, the allergies, imbalances and energy blocks should then cease.
